Fogerson nabs Husky offer in meeting

A standout in the Washington prep scene this past season was O'Dea RB/DB Johri Fogerson. He put up a ton of yards and was a hard-hitting safety in the Irish secondary this fall and he said he's ready to focus on recruiting and that Washington is in his top-two schools.

"Yeah it was a good season," Fogerson said. "It's too bad we couldn't win that last one because that was such a tough, hard-fought game and it was brutal to lose something like that especially the way we lost it where we had the lead and the we ended up short on the scoreboard."

Fogerson finished the season with 2,545 yards and 34 touchdowns on the ground to go along with 13 receptions for 196 yards and two more scores. He also added 65 tackles, four picks and a lot of big hits from his safety position.

"I'm a leader on our team and my teammates looked to me to bring them home," Fogerson said. "I felt bad about losing that game last weekend, but you just keep your head high and move on."

On Wednesday, Fogerson and his mother met with Washington head coach Tyrone Willingham and he received an offer from the Huskies.

"Coach Willingham just said they wanted me to come to Washington," Fogerson said. "He said he didn't want me to be anything that I wasn't and that I didn't need to change anything that I did.

"He wants me at running back and said he hadn't seen a guy have that kind of a season in a long time."

So did the new offer from the Huskies open Fogerson's eyes?

"Oh yeah, they're in my top two," Fogerson said. "It's basically them and Hawaii, but I wouldn't say anyone really leads.

"I haven't set up any visits or anything like that, but I will be doing that probably next week. I need to talk things over with my mom and then kind of look at our schedule."

Fogerson claims offers from Louisville, Georgia Tech, Oregon, California and Ohio State with heavy interest coming from Arizona, Arizona State and Boise State as well.

We'll keep track of Fogerson's recruiting over the next few weeks and keep things updated as they change.
