DeCastro will take official to Washington

He made an early commitment to the Stanford Cardinal this past spring and he's remained solid on his early pledge, but the hometown team has made an impression on Bellevue C David DeCastro and he's going to be heading to Montlake this weekend to check out the Huskies and what they have to offer.

"I'm just going to check them out and make sure that I've made the right decision," DeCastro told on Wednesday night. "They have kept in contact with me and done a good job of recruiting me and I just think you honor something like that by giving them the look they deserve."

DeCastro helped lead a young Bellevue squad this past season to a playoff berth and said he was happy with how his senior season went.

"I don't really worry about how I do individually," DeCastro said. "Actually, nothing was further from my mind. I just wanted us to be successful and be the leader they expected me to be and that's really what I was focused on.

"I also wanted to make sure I stayed healthy and didn't get hurt and for that I'm really thankful."

DeCastro has offers from most of the Pac 10 and said that his commitment to the Cardinal is firm, but the Huskies will have a chance to show him things this weekend.

"I'm just heading over by myself to check things out," DeCastro said. "I'm still set with Stanford, but I wouldn't be doing myself justice if I didn't at least listen to other schools and what they have to say."

We'll have more from DeCastro after his official visit to Washington this weekend.
