Trip Report: Alameda Ta'amu

It's been a foregone conclusion over the past four days that Rainier Beach DT Alameda Ta'amu was going to commit to Washington on his official visit this weekend and that came to fruition on Saturday as he met with head coach Tyrone Willingham. caught up with Ta'amu on Sunday and he talked about his visit and said he's happy that recruiting is over.

"It was pretty crazy for me," Ta'amu said. "I told coach Willingham I was going to commit this weekend so he already knew, but I made it official on Saturday.

"He was really excited and so was coach (Randy) Hart. They said they've needed a guy who they could put in the middle and stuff the run and get a push and that's what I do best."

Ta'amu said his trip was a '10' and he didn't hesitate when asked what his favorite part was.

"Hanging out with the players was pretty cool and then going out on the field was a lot of fun," Ta'amu said. "We walked out there like we were going to be playing a game and there were Husky highlights on the Husky Tron so that was really cool.

"I loved hanging out with my host (Daniel Te'o-Nesheim) and Kalani (Aldrich) and Senio (Kelemete).

"I'm just glad to be done with it and we'll keep working on the guys who need to commit still. Guys like Everette (Thompson) are close to committing and we didn't put a lot of pressure on them, but we let them know that we want them to come and be a part of this class with us."

We'll have more from Ta'amu after the holidays.
