Trip Report: Charles Germany-Satchell

Every year, around the time official visits begin, players start to come out of the woodwork as visitors to different schools. Milpitas ATH Charles Germany-Satchell is just such a player and he officially visited the University of Washington this weekend and said he came away impressed with what he saw. Did he make a commitment? Read on to find out...

"Oh I had a blast up there," Germany-Satchell told shortly after he returned from his trip. "It was a lot of fun and the players and coaches were really cool.

"I had never been up there before so it was cool to check out the city, the campus and get a good look at the program up close and stuff like that."

Germany-Satchell was a playmaker on both sides of the ball for Milpitas this past year, posting 20 catches for 500 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver, 60 tackles and two interceptions from his safety position while returning four kickoffs and one punt for scores as well.

"I pretty much was a playmaker when I got my hands on the ball," Germany-Satchell said. "I have the confidence in myself to run away from guys because I have good speed (4.41) and size (6-3, 205) so I can be physical and stuff like that.

"The coaches told me they want me at wideout and as a punt and kick returner and I really felt comfortable there."

So while he was on his visit did he think about committing?

"Oh I was close to doing it, but I didn't," Germany-Satchell said. "I want to take my visits and check things out before I decide, plus I went up there by myself so I wanted to get home and talk things over with my family."

Germany-Satchell said the highlight of his trip was meeting the other players and recruits.

"They were all really cool," Germany-Satchell said. "Mason Foster was my host and he was great. We had a lot of fun together and with the other recruits and players.

"He showed me around, we ate a lot of good food and I just got a feel for what life is like for a Washington Husky."

Next weekend, Germany-Satchell will visit California and in January he expects to visit Oregon, but that date has not been set yet.

"I'd rate the visit a 9.5," Germany-Satchell said. "The only reason it wasn't a 10 is because I don't think any visit could be perfect.

"Overall, it was a great visit."

We'll continue to follow Germany-Satchell over the next few months as he continues his visits and then makes a final decision.
