Burgess has trips set up

Rudy Burgess is a 5-11, 175-pound WR/DB prospect from Desert High School in Edwards, California, and Burgess has led the Scorpions to an undefeated record so far this season. At 6-0 they are looking toward the biggest game they've had so far this season - a grudge match against Mahogany this Friday, presumably for league title.

"They are our biggest competitors," Rudy told Dawgman.com last night. In the Scorpions' first three games, Burgess had 12 catches for 275 yards, and while he didn't catch a fall in their fourth game he did have 6 carries for 68 yards. "I don't think I've improved that much except for my speed."

Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State and UCLA are the schools Burgess feels are recruiting him the hardest lately, with trips set up to Washington State (11/9), Arizona State(12/6) and Oregon(12/13). He also has a date set up for Washington, either in late November or mid-December, but it hasn't been firmed up yet. He has official offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and Arizona State.

Most are talking to Rudy about playing wide receiver but, "They like the fact that I can play defense too," he said. "I would like to play on the offensive side of the ball, but if I have to play defense than I'm happy with that decision too. I like special teams too."

Burgess knows that the Huskies are interested in him. "I didn't get to talk to him, but I saw Coach (Chuck) Heater walking with our coach at our school and I talked to him on the phone the night before he came," he said.

So who is Rudy's favorite school right now? "If I had to choose today I'd go to Washington State because the chemistry of the team is great right now and the coaches are good too," he said.
