Cowan gets two more offers

Joe Cowan is a 6-3, 190-pound athlete from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, and lately he's doing double damage for the Braves on the gridiron. Known mostly for his receiving skills and speed, Cowan put his considerable physical talents to the test against Santa Margarita last Friday in their first league game. The results were nothing short of outstanding.

They beat the Eagles 28-23, and Cowan had an 86-yard interception return for a touchdown. "It was pretty cool," he told Dawgman.com last night. "It was open. It wasn't hard at all. Nobody even touched me." The Braves are 4-2 and 1-0 in league play, but face a stiff test in Loyola this coming Friday.

Washington was the only offer Cowan had for a while, but Wyoming and Colorado State have recently thrown their hats in the ring. "Actually Notre Dame is recruiting me for track and field," Joe said when asked which colleges have started to pick up their recruitment of him. "They want me to do the hurdles and 400. UCLA is recruiting me too, but more for football. They've started to pick it up."

He doesn't have any official trips set up yet. "Things are pretty slow right now," he said. "I do know that coaches from Washington State and Cal came by when we played Narbonne, but I'm not worried about that stuff until the season is over."
