Trip Report: Anthony Gobern

Del Campo (Fair Oaks, Ca.) CB Anthony Gobern took his official visit to the University of Washington this past weekend and he saw some new things on this trip he hadn't seen on his previous unofficial visits. caught up to Gobern as he and his family were driving home from the airport and he updated us on his visit and he said he's as solid with Washington as ever.

"It was real cool," Gobern told "I think (all the recruits) had a good time up there.

"I had been up there a couple times already so, it wasn't like I was seeing something I had never seen, but the players were really cool to get to know and they showed us around Seattle and that was something I hadn't had a chance to do yet so that was a lot of fun."

One of the highlights of all official visits is the food and Gobern said he got a lot and saw a couple of restaurants he liked.

"They took us to Gillians and that was a lot of fun," Gobern said. "Then they took us to the Crab Shack and we had some good food there and there were a couple of other places too.

"I gotta work hard to burn that food off."

Vonzell McDowell was his host while on campus and he said that all of the corner hung out together.

"He's from Seattle so he knows a lot about the area," Gobern said. "He played last year too so it was cool to get his perspective.

"All of the corners got to hang out and meet each other and get to know each other and I really felt comfortable with them.

"We went to the players' lounge and played video games and we watched the basketball game and that place was really loud and the fans were into it."

Gobern brought both parents with him on his visit and he said they got a chance to sit down and talk with head coach Tyrone Willingham.

"I had talked to him a couple of times, but they got to meet with him and get to know him," Gobern said. "They had a good talk with him about things and I think they are glad that I'm a Husky."

Gobern said he expects Willingham to visit him on his in-home very soon and that he's looking forward to having the Husky head man in to meet the rest of his family.
