Vacaville LB interested in UW?

Thomas Williams is a 6-2, 227-pound linebacker prospect from Vacaville, California and it arguably one of the biggest prospects regardless of position in the state of California. With his physical attributes and versatility, Washington would love to get in on the Williams' sweepstakes. The chances of that are becoming slimmer and slimmer, but with an offer already extended the Dawgs are doing their best to make an impression.

"They like that I can play all three linebacking positions and strong safety too," Williams told last night. 4.55 is his best recorded 40 time, although he runs consistently in the low 4.6's. According to Thomas, he benches 360 pounds and squats 480 pounds. So far he has 70 tackles through 6 games, including 9 sacks.

Recruiting contact has been coming from Notre Dame, Nebraska and all the Pac-10 of late, with offers from UCLA, USC, Nebraska, Washington, Oregon State, UNLV and Notre Dame. He has official visits set up to UCLA (1/17), USC (1/10), Nebraska (12/20)and Notre Dame (12/6). "I'm not really sure if I'm even going to take another trip, to be honest," Williams said.

"I'd have to say my two top schools right now are USC and Notre Dame."

Thomas does have a bit of a link to Washington. "Vince Newsome went to our school," he said of the safety that was a four-year letterwinner from 1979-1982. "I think he's a scout for the (Baltimore) Ravens now."
