Mebane sets up visits

Brandon Mebane is a 6-1, 260-pound defensive lineman from Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw and lately Brandon has been getting a lot of attention, both on and off the football field. College coaches are taking notice of his ability to command double and triple-teams, allowing his teammates to clean up.

I am having a good season, just I am getting double and triple teamed all of the time," Brandon told "But that is okay, I am still able to rack up the numbers."

Mebane now have eight offers, the latest coming from Oregon State Beavers and UNLV. His earlier offers are from Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, USC, California and Washington. "I was also invited to play in the CA-FL bowl game January 4, 2003," Brandon said. "This is pretty exciting.

He's trying to set up trips, but might have some extra work to do for Crenshaw before he can really tackle those visits. "I have set up a trip for the Cal-Stanford game November 23rd," Mebane said. "It's an official visit. I had also scheduled a December 6 visit with Washington, but I may have to change it, I am not sure yet. I might have to change it because there was a conflict with an Oregon visit during that time. But if my team makes it to the playoffs, I may not be going anywhere until after that is over. I have to sit down with my parents and coach and try to finalize my trips, but I will be visiting Washington for sure."

So does he know what other schools he'll be visiting? He has a better idea of who he won't be officially visiting at this point. "I don't know who they'll be yet," Brandon said. "I will be trying to schedule visits to three other schools in the next couple of weeks. I know I probably won't visit UCLA or USC because they are right here and I have and can visit them unofficially anytime."
