Thomas playing tag?

Terrell Thomas is a 6-2, 180-pound athlete from Rancho Cucamonga, California and Terrell has been a little bit of everything for the Cougars. He's being recruited mostly on defense, but that's not stopping Terrell from doing a little bit of everything.

His main responsibility is strong safety, but he's also played a little bit of WR, RB and some QB. "It's a different look," Thomas told about the view from behind the center. "I help the team run the option." He has 91 carries for 800 yards and 18 catches for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

However, Terrell is mostly being recruiting for defense. "I have good footwork and I can read the defense well," he said. "I'm always in the right place at the right time. I can read trick plays. I have good hands. I'm not real big, but I'm a physical player. I'll come up and hit you. I'm known to hit players a lot bigger than me. I can get in your face. I'm a good cover safety."

His size and speed are noticeable assets. Thomas ran a 4.35 40 at the SoCal NIKE camp and had a 33.5-inch vertical jump at the UCLA one-day camp earlier in the year. He's run a 10.5 100 and a 21.4 200 for Rancho Cucamonga.

Scholarship offers have come from Washington, Washington State, Oregon State, USC, UCLA, Cal, Arizona State, New Mexico State and Kansas. USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington State are pushing the hardest right now. "Actually, Washington just called last Saturday and this Saturday one of their coaches called me and I was at film," Terrell said. "I hope they don't go back to playing phone tag again, because I missed them in the spring, so I didn't have any contact with them during the summer. Then we did that all through September too."

Husky Head Coach Rick Neuheisel is the one recruiting Terrell for the Dawgs. "He said I'm a good athlete, a good all-around player," he said. "He said he's been waiting to talk to me." Thomas also played against current UW running back Chris Singleton. "He's from Etiwanda. I played against him my sophomore year. We played defense really good, but he had about 150 yards. I think I got him once, but he got me a lot more. But he was a senior and I was just a sophomore. He's a good back."

Terrell doesn't have any visits set up yet. "I will probably set up a trip with USC this week and maybe Washington State. Maybe Washington. I've haven't decided if I'm going to trip to Oregon or Oregon State yet."
