Basler, Eagles, primed for playoffs

Todd Basler had a lot of expectations going into this year. The 6-2, 220-pound running back/linebacker prospect from Elma, Washington ran for over 2200 yards as a junior, so hopes were high that he could reproduce that number in his final year as an Eagle. He may not get there, but it's not a reflection of his contribution thus far.

"It's been pretty good so far," Basler told of his season. "We just won our league last game, so that was nice. But we'll keep on going." They handled Montesano 53-7 last week and take on LaCenter tonight to finish out their regular-season schedule.

So far Todd has 1375 yards and 22 scores for the Eagles. Those are misleading stats, however as the most he's played in one game was three quarters in Elma's last game.

As has been the case, Basler is not being pro-active in the recruiting process. He will not schedule any official visits until after Elma's season is over. Stanford remains his only scholarship offer, and the Washington Huskies are in constant contact. Randy Hart is the coach recruiting Todd for the Dawgs. "We've just been talking and I've been sending film," Basler said. Washington likes Todd as a fullback. "It would be nice," he said about his preference for offense. "But I'll play anywhere."
