Faraimo sure about two

Salo Faraimo is a 6-2, 200-pound running back/linebacker prospect from Vista, California, and the Panthers are just starting to get their stride after handling Compton Dominguez 35-6 last weekend. Faraimo is doing it on both ends, scoring touchdowns as a punishing runner and bottling up ballcarriers as a tenacious defender.

"We're getting better, but we're nowhere near where we want to be," Faraimo told Dawgman.com. For his part, Salo has 105 carries for 676 yards and 13 scores. Defensively, through seven games he has 38 solo tackles and 33 assists, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and one returned for a touchdown.

On the recruiting front, two schools have stepped up as Salo's favorites - USC and Washington. "I like the program there and the coaches, especially Coach (Rick) Neuheisel," Faraimo said of the Huskies. "Great players always come out of there." Chuck Heater is the coach recruiting Salo for the Dawgs.

And the Trojans? "Well, obviously they are local, so I've been there and met the coaches and players. I can myself playing there." He attended the Auburn-USC game, and came away suitably impressed. "It was exciting," he said. "It's the first big game I'd ever been to. I'm probably going to go to the Notre Dame game too."

Both have offered and Salo expects to take official visits to both schools, although dates have not been set yet.
