Huskies in it for Siddoway

One of the top football prospects in all of the Pacific Northwest is Marist (Eugene, Or.) OL Charles Siddoway. Washington offered the big man back in May and they joined a select group of schools who are being considered by the talented youngster from the Willamette Valley. caught up with Siddoway recently and he updated us on things...

"Things are coming along as far as recruiting is concerned," Siddoway told "I've got offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Boise State, California, UCLA and Portland State and I'm hearing from a bunch of other schools."

With so many schools to choose from, Siddoway has some decisions to make and he's working on narrowing down his list so he can focus on a top five, but he isn't ready to parse it down quite yet.

"I'm still just getting to know all the schools and I want to talk with all the coaches and make sure I know enough about them to either keep them on my list or eliminate them.

"I've talked to Oregon's coaches the most and I live close to campus, so I'd say I know them the best. I've talked to coach (Rick) Neuheisel at UCLA and he's cool and I've really gotten to know their staff and program pretty well.

"I've talked to coach (Tyrone) Willingham and the coaches from Washington a few times and they are a school I'm considering pretty highly. Cal and Oregon State are the other ones kinda at the top there, but I really haven't eliminated anyone so I'm still wide open."

Washington got on board with an offer to Siddoway back in May and he said they are a school that intrigues him quite a bit.

"I like the fact that Washington is in the northwest so my family could come and watch me," Siddoway said. "I'm not real set on staying close to home though, so that won't play a huge factor, but it is a little bit of a factor.

"Coach Willingham said he likes my size and footwork. He's a good coach and he's someone I could see myself playing for if I decided to go there.

"I feel comfortable with a lot of the coaches though, so it's really about where I ultimately see myself playing for the next four years."

Siddoway is being recruited by all the schools who have offered him as a tackle.

"I can move well for a guy my size," Siddoway noted. "I have pretty quick feet and that's what a lot of the coaches have told me they like about me.

"I really need to get stronger though, especially my lower body, because I want to be able to drive-block better and that's really what I've been focused on this spring."

Siddoway is hoping to make some unofficial visits to the schools on his list this summer, but at this point, nothing is set in stone.

"I haven't set up any visits this summer," Siddoway said. "I'm not really sure what schools I will visit or check out right now. I'd like to get down to California to check out those schools, but with my schedule, I'm just not sure.

"I'm not going to make my decision anytime soon. I want to take all my official visits and I want to play my whole season and then decide sometime around the holidays or even after the first of the year. We'll see what happens."

We'll continue to track Siddoway's progress and update things as they happen over the next few months.
