Vaz talks about day at Husky camp

The state of California is loaded with quarterback talent this year and Stockton (Ca.) Saint Mary's QB Cody Vaz is one that has started to see recruiting pick up after three solid workouts this past week. Dawgman.com caught up with talented signal-caller and he updated us on where things stand and he even named a top three...

"I was up at Oregon State, Washington State and Washington for camp this past week, so I was pretty busy," Vaz said with a chuckle. "It was good for me though. I think I had good workouts and all of the coaches told me they liked what they saw and that I impressed them."

It's become well-known that Washington offensive coordinator Tim Lappano likes to see quarterbacks throw before he extends an offer and apparently he came away impressed with what he saw from Vaz.

"Coach Lappano said I did really well," Vaz said. "I was able to throw all the routes well and I was pretty accurate and he liked that. He said I was definitely in the mix for getting one of the offers from camp and I should know something pretty soon.

"This was the first time I had ever been to Seattle, so it was really cool getting to see the city and check out the school.

"It's beautiful up there and it reminds me a lot of San Francisco so I felt really at home there."

Vaz currently has an offer from Idaho State, but he said the three schools he saw this past week are the one's he's focused on.

"Washington, Washington State and Oregon State are my leaders," Vaz said. "All three have told me they like me a lot and I'd like to make a commitment before my season starts, so if and when I hear something from them, that's when I'll start to figure things out.

"I've already talked to my parents about things and they have seen all of the schools so it will be my decision and I think I have all that I need to know about them at this point."

We'll keep tabs on Vaz over the next few weeks and update things as they change.
