Huskies offer Lonestar duo

The Huskies have made some inroads into the Lonestar State and they have offered two very talented defensive backs from the Dallas area. South Oak Cliff CB Kenneth Pinkard and S Kevin Brent both received offers from Washington within the last few weeks and they both may travel to Seattle early next month to check out the Dawgs.

"I got offered by Washington late last month," Pinkard told recently. "Coach (J.D.) Williams has been recruiting me for them and he was on me back in May and then last month, toward the end, they offered me."

Washington is Pinkard's only offer at this point, but Illinois has begun to heat up on the talented cover corner who wracked up 70 tackles, four interceptions and one sack last year as a junior and was named All-District for his efforts

"Washington and Illinois are the main schools sending me stuff and talking to me," Pinkard said. "Washington wants me to come up there on August 2nd for their prospect day so I'm going to go up and I told coach Williams if I really like it up there, that I would commit while I was up there."

Pinkard's teammate, Kevin Brent, who is rated the number four safety in the country by, recently received an offer from Washington and said he's thinking about accompanying his friend on his visit to Montlake.

"It's all pretty new with them," Brent said about getting an offer from the Dawgs last week. "I was sorta surprised when they offered me, but it was flattering. I'm going to see about going up there with (Pinkard) and see what they are all about, but right now I'm not really sure if it will happen or not. I'd like to see Seattle though."

Brent said while he's still keeping an open mind, he's already begun to narrow his list of favorites down a bit.

"I'm focused on Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, USC and Texas Tech, but I will be looking at Washington," Brent said. "I still haven't set up any visits, so I'm keeping an open mind on something like that."

All of Brent's favorites have offered.

Brent is widely considered one of the best safety prospects to come out of Texas in quite some time and he's a hard-hitter who received All-State honors while amassing 87 tackles and four sacks.

We'll continue to track these two talented secondary prospects over the coming weeks and update things as they change.
