James gets royal treatment during visit

Milvon James is a 5-11.5, 185-pound athlete from Los Angeles (Calif.) Fremont, and James had the time of his life this past weekend during his official visit to Washington State. When he and teammate Mark Bradford got off their plane in Pullman, the entire Cougar coaching staff was there to greet them. It's just what James was hoping for.

"I wasn't expecting that," Milvon told Dawgman.com. "I was wondering who they all were. That's love when the coaches come to pick you up. They missed some practice to do that. The whole trip was cool. It's definitely a college town there and the people love the football team."

Marcus Trufant and Sammy Moore were James' hosts. "They talked about how it was cool in Pullman and how the players all look out for each other," he said. "They talked about how the coaches and players are always looking out for you. I was telling Mark on the plane trip home that I learned some new things from watching Trufant. The way he moves with his feet, high feet. I'm still learning."

And the highlight? "I think it was the walk to the fieldhouse with the team," he said. "All the fans lined up and made a tunnel for the players. All the fans wanted to touch you and be right next to you. It was really cool. I went to the USC-Auburn game, but this game was different. The fans are way different. They are die-hard. It seemed like every play they had little chants."

Both James and Bradford are also being recruited by Washington, and Milvon admits that he was aware of not letting his true colors show either way. They had on poker faces the whole time. "It was really hard for Mark and me," James said. "We saw the coach that's recruiting us for Washignton (Bobby Kennedy). We just wanted to watch and not show that we were leaning one way or the other. It was tough."

In the final analysis, Milvon could find nothing wrong with his trip at all. "It had to be a 10," he said. "It was a great trip."

He currently has scholarship offers from Washington State, Washington, California, Arizona and Wisconsin. He has an official visit set up with California on the weekend of December 6th and will visit Washington with Bradford the following weekend. He had 14 touchdowns as a running back and four picks as a corner, with two going back for scores for Fremont this season.
