Bowman heading back home?

Zack Bowman is a 6-1, 185-pound athlete from Anchorage (Alaska) Bartlett, and Bowman was part of a Bartlett squad that took home the Cook Inlet Football Conference crown against Chugiak earlier this year. It wrapped up a phenomenal year for Zack, as he was named first team all-CIFC for offense, defense and special teams and was also named the Utility player of the year.

"I was nervous, but when the ball was kicked off I was fine," Bowman told about the championship game. "It was a lot of fun." He caught a pass for a touchdown and also had an interception in that game, bringing his season pick total to 6. He also averaged at least 10 tackles a game as a defensive back for the Golden Bears.

Zack has had some time to let it all sink in. "I'm just relaxing right now, running and getting ready for basketball and getting my grades up," he said. "I'll be taking the SAT soon."

He'll also start working on the recruiting process. Even though he doesn't have any trips set up yet, he'll probably wait until January to start taking them. Three weeks ago Washington Secondary Coach Bobby Hauck called. "He told me to send film and we could get the process started for me," said Bowman.

Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado and Washington are the schools that have been talking to Zack the most lately, with no offers to show right now. His old home state has been beckoning. "I've been thinking about South Carolina a lot," he said. "My best friend (Todd Ervin) will be playing for them next year. I played with him back in 9th grade when we were living in South Carolina."
