Bellevue Hosts the Best in the West

For Husky fans looking for something to do during the bye week this Saturday, The Best of the West Football Face-Off offers an entertaining option. Bellevue High School, in conjunction with Nike and Red Bull, will host a four football game event on September 20th, 2008 at Seattle's Qwest Field.

The Best of the West will provide fans with a rare opportunity to watch state-ranked teams compete head-to-head in one of the nation's finest football arenas. The full day of football will feature seven Seattle-area teams and California High School, who finished 11-2 last season.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., Washington's Kamiak will face Shorewood, followed by a showdown of two state Washington state playoff teams; Woodinville versus Eastlake at 1:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Redmond will challenge the 2-time state runner up Bothell Cougars.

The 7:30 p.m. game will showcase Bellevue High School and California High School. As fans might recall, Bellevue boasts quite a track record at Qwest. The six-time state champions first made national news in 2004, after they massacred De La Salle and ended that team's record 109-game winning streak. Bellevue also made an impressive showing in ‘05, after and three years ago that they dispensed of Long Beach Poly. Bellevue is off to a solid 2-0 start, led by their impressive running back Peter Nguyen.

Ticket prices are $7.00 for students and $13 for adults and can be purchased through Ticketmaster, the Qwest Field box office, or at competing high schools. The American Cancer Society will sell programs at the game to help raise money.  Additional information, and stats on the event and the teams involved are available at Top Stories
