Booker down to four? talked to Shane Beatty, coach at Reedley College in Reedley, California about Donyell Booker, a 6-1.5, 295-pound defensive tackle prospect from Reedley. Booker's credentials are impressive, so it's no surprise the Washington Huskies are putting a full-court press on the mid-year transfer. Originally from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas, is Booker looking to head back to the Lone Star State? Or is he finding things on the west coast more to his liking?

"He's quick and tough," Beatty said of Booker. "He uses his hands really well and can move." Donyell was the Central Valley Conference defensive Player of the Year and was just named as a JC Grid-Wire first-team All-American. He had 14 sacks for the Tigers this season.

School from all around have been coming by to see Donyell, including Washington. "Coach (Chuck) Heater was here (Wednesday)," Beatty said. "They haven't offered Donyell yet. They want to send a couple of their defensive coaches down next week. He's intrigued by what they are telling him."

Booker has already visited Oregon State (11/22) and has another one set up for Fresno State (12/13). That one may have to be switched around, as the Tigers are still in the playoffs. "Iowa State came in and offered a trip yesterday, so he'll be going there too," Beatty said. "We're just not sure about when."

Since Donyell already has his AA, he can sign as early as December 18th, but probably won't sign on that day. Depending on how the rest of his visits go, he may sign a couple of days after that." He will have two years to play two at the college he chooses.
