Jeff Wells trip report spoke with Rick Wells today, and Rick was in Seattle this past weekend along with his son, Lakes athlete Jeff, as they were on an official visit to the University of Washington. To say the trip resulted in some mixed emotions for the Wells family is an understatement.

"Well, Jeff never received an offer, so I guess we're still a little bit on standby," Rick told "We asked Coach Neuheisel, 'Why did you trip us then if you weren't going to offer?' and he told us that they were covering their bases for down the road."

But Wells had nothing but great things to say about the overall feel for the trip. "They did a great job, they treated us really well," he said. "They treated us like Kings and Queens. I have nothing but complimentary things to say about what they did. We stayed at a great hotel and we went to the Space Needle, Jillians and the Metropolitan Grill. And it was awesome. The sky was the limit. It's hard to come back home after a weekend like that. We got to see what the big-time programs do."

Rick mentioned the walk through the tunnel at night to the stadium as a highlight, as was seeing his son's name on a mock-up jersey in the Huskies' locker room. "Coach Neuheisel spent a lot of time talking to Jeff," Wells said. "He told him that he's going to list him as a recruted walk-on, which I guess is different than being an invited walk-on. All I know is that we just assumed that since we were visiting Jeff was going to get an offer. If Jeff had gotten one, he would have committed on the spot. We'll have to see what happens now."

Portland State, Eastern Washington, Montana, Montana State and Nevada are all hot after Wells - a player that can do damage on both sides of the ball as either a QB or as a safety/OLB. "Denny Schuler from Nevada is coming by the school on Tuesday to talk to Jeff," Rick said. As of yet, Jeff has not received a scholarship offer, but it seems like it's just a matter of time. When teammate Anthony Russo was offered by Washington, Lancers' Head Coach Dave Miller was besiged with offers from Pac-10 schools.

Will history repeat itself with Wells? Stay tuned...
