Fellner Hears From Sarkisian

It's not everything he needed to know, but a five-minute conversation between new UW Head Coach Steve Sarkisian and Nathan Fellner was enough for the 6-1, 193-pound safety prospect from Clovis West High School in the Central Valley of California to remain seriously interested in attending college in Seattle.

"I was relieved they called me," Fellner told Scout.com Friday of the phone call made by Sarkisian and new UW assistant Demetrice Martin a couple of nights ago. "Coach Martin said that he wanted to build a relationship and he still wants me to go to Washington."

While saying the chances he attends Washington are 'higher than 50 percent' right now, Fellner is looking to Colorado and Arizona too. "I'm taking my visits," he said. "That's what my parents have recommended I do, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to take my visits and then I'll evaluate everything."

Fellner just officially visited Arizona this past weekend, and he'll be going to Colorado the weekend of January 9th and then Washington the following weekend.

"I just want to see that they are staring to get some recruits," he said. "You have to get a solid recruiting class. That, and who they bring in as a defensive coordinator and how they want to use me."

Fellner was asked about any names he might have been told are in line for the vacant position of defensive coordinator at Washington, and though he feels confident they will fill the job with a quality coach he wasn't given any information.

"I just like the University of Washington anyway," he added. "I know the staff is going to be good; it's just a matter of what fits me the best."
