More schools come on for Fogerson

Back in September he became the earliest commitment that the University of Washington has every gotten, but that hasn't stopped teams from across the country from continuing to pursue junior O'Dea RB Zach Fogerson. Dawgman.com caught up with the talented big-back and he updated us on recruiting as well as what his plans are over the next six months.

"I'm doing well, just working out and focusing on things like school and stuff," Fogerson told Dawgman.com earlier this week. "I'm not doing track this year, so I'm just focused on my football workouts, getting stronger and just making sure I'm in shape and ready to go for my senior year."

As a sophomore, Fogerson and his older brother Johri, who just finished his freshman season with Washington, helped lead the Irish to the 3A State Championship game, but as a junior he and his team fell short of their goals.

"We just didn't get it done, but we played hard and we have a lot of good young guys coming back so we should be able to have a good year next year," Fogerson said.

On the recruiting front, Fogerson committed to Washington back in early September and he said while he is disappointed that former head coach Tyrone Willingham was let go, he's excited by the new staff to take over the Husky program.

"Coach (Steve) Sarkisian is a good coach and he runs a great system," Fogerson said. "I mean, it fits me perfectly because they like to use the fullback a lot.

"I was a little worried about who would end up (at Washington) but I think things are in good hands and my brother said he's met with him and the other coaches that have been hired so far and he said they are really great and ready to get Washington back to the top."

Fogerson said that while he remains totally committed to Washington, schools from across the country have been making contact and asking for highlights of his junior season.

"Alabama and LSU are the latest ones for me," Fogerson said. "They like me as a big bruising fullback and someone that they can use in different ways.

"Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State, Cal, USC, UCLA, Arizona State and a bunch of other ones are contacting me too, but I'm solid to Washington."

Fogerson said he plans to take in some Husky junior days in the future as well as make a trip to Montlake to visit with Sarkisian as soon as possible.
