Dawg Scraps - 12/17

A couple of new developments have happened in the last few days that should be of interest to Husky fans, one a good thing and another one not so good. As it is during the 'second season', there's a juggling act that takes place with coaches and recruits, and sometimes the balls come crashing to the ground. Here's a quick look into what you should expect from this incoming group of visitors this weekend.

There could be an interesting situation developing with Dwight Stephenson. His father accompanied him to his official visit to Florida last weekend. Well, he wanted his son to take trips because he wasn't sold on the Ron Zook regime in Gainesville, but upon his own inspection gave Zook his blessing. But here's where things take an interesting turn. Word on the street was that recent ASU commit Justin Burks was a silent commit to Zook before he started looking around. When Justin took other trips, the Gator Head Coach pulled the cord on Burks' offer. He then verballed to the Sun Devils. After speaking to Dwight's younger brother tonight, he confirmed that his brother is most definitely visiting Washington this weekend.

Is Zook about to yank another offer off the table, or is he setting himself up for scrutiny by creating a double-standard in Stephenson's case? The next week will be very interesting in Florida, that's for sure.

As far as bad news, Tustin OL Sam Baker will not be visiting this weekend, and will not be rescheduling. "They wanted me to come on a mid-week visit because they were leaving to go to the Sun Bowl, and my Mom didn't want me missing any school, so I'm not taking a visit to Washington," Baker told Dawgman.com tonight. Expect Sam to commit to USC to play alongside teammate Chris Barrett.

We reached Noah Smith briefly for confirmation that he'll be visiting Washington this weekend and he said yes. He also confirmed that teammate Steve Smith will also be visiting this weekend. That's pretty big news. And Terrell Thomas won't be visiting this weekend as expected. Instead he'll be visiting Montlake January 17th. He has an official visit to USC January 10th.

Other players that have confirmed their intentions to visit this weekend include; Chad Green, Dennis Keyes, Clarence Simpson, Louis Solis, Cesar Rodriguez, CJ Wallace, Damon Jenkins and Sonny Shackelford. Quentin Daniels, Devin Stearns, Juan Garcia, RJ Willing and Louis Rankin have already been in touch and have confirmed their plans to visit Washington this weekend.

Of course, since this is only Tuesday, these plans can change, but expect everyone mentioned above in Seattle on Friday.
