Rankin poised for visit

Louis Rankin is a 6-1, 190-pound running back from Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln, and the first thing you notice when looking down Louis' stats is just how big they are. 2200 rushing yards 41 touchdowns this season? 3200 yards and 58 touchdowns his last two year? Those numbers are awfully reminiscent of another Central Valley athlete - Kenny James. Is Rankin ready to be the next Pac-10 running back from the Fresno-Stockton area? He hopes so.

"I pretty much have my own style," he told Dawgman.com. "It's a little bit of everything. Coach like my speed and my size."

Louis visited Fresno State the weekend of December 6, and is set to visit Washington starting today. "I've also got a trip set up to Boise State," he said. He has scholarship offers galore - Washington, Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State, USC, UCLA, Utah State, Oregon State and Oregon are the schools Rankin claims rides from.

Why does Rankin have a soft spot for the Huskies? "They have a pretty good football team," he said. "They are also close to home." Rick Neuheisel and Chuck Heater are the coaches recruiting Louis for Washington.

While Louis only has the three visits set up, he claims no leaders. Will that change after this weekend?
