Hoops Notes/Scraps

The Huskies will face Florida International Saturday and Houston on Monday. Saturday's game will take place at 2pm while Monday's game will be at 7:30pm and broadcast on FSNW. Nate Robinson will miss only the December 28th game against Cal State Northridge. CSU-Northridge is a former division II powerhouse and recently gave Oregon a decent game. He will be back for the January 2nd Pac-10 opener versus UCLA.

Today's practice was well attended. Football players Stan Daniels, Jafar Williams, Derrick Johnson, Greg Carothers, and Sam Cunningham all spent significant time watching the hoopsters. Coach Gilbertson made an appearance as well.

Nate Robinson was unaware of Bobby Hauck's move to Montana until the end of practice. He was informed of his position coach's departure by reporters looking for comment after practice.

After practice the Huskies took a little time showing off their dunking ability. People will probably get tired of hearing about Robinson's leaping ability, but it is really amazing. He's got crazy ups, as the kids say.

After the dunk fest the players flocked to the north gym where the New Orleans Hornets were practicing in anticipation of their Friday matchup with the Sonics. Lorenzo Romar and Cameron Dollar were reunited with former Bruin Baron Davis. Romar also spent time hobnobbing with head coach Paul Silas and role player Bryce Drew of Valparaiso fame.

Brandon Roy was once again in attendence. His status remains in limbo. Roy is optimistic that he will be eligible beginning Saturday the 21st.
