Shamburger is happy to be a Dawg

He committed to Boise State early on, but after Washington started to show interest and made an offer, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Ca.) ATH Will Shamburger started to re-think his commitment to the Broncos and after he took his official visit to Seattle this weekend he decided he'd rather play Pac 10 ball and verbally committed to the Huskies.

"It was all that I expected and more," Shamburger told Dawgman.com. "The coaches and players were great and I just felt the atmosphere was a great thing and I decided I wanted to be a Husky."

Shamburger said when he spoke with new Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian that is what really sealed the deal for him.

"He's got a really great attitude and he's really motivated and excited about things," Shamburger said. "He said they want me at free safety where they can use my instincts and my skills.

"I just want to get out and play and coach Sarkisian said he wants guys who are ready to compete and bring Washington back to where they are supposed to be."

Sophomore RB Willie Griffin was Shamburger's host on his trip and the two spent time getting to know each other while Griffin related his experience with Washington's weather.

"He was real cool," Shamburger said. "He told me that Seattle gets a bad rap as far as the rain is concerned. He said it's mainly just foggy and you get a little rain here and there, but that it's great football weather, especially in the spring and the fall when you are playing the most."

Shamburger said he is a solid commitment to Washington and will not be taking any further visits.
