Trip Report: Marlion Barnett

The Washington coaches weren't the only ones recruiting this past weekend. Marlion Barnett, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound tight end prospect from Santiago High School in Corona, Calif. took his official visit to UW this weekend after making a previous oral commitment. He got his questions answered, but he also did a little stumping of his own for the Huskies.

"I committed in November, but I took my trip this weekend," he told Sunday. 'I really love the city, and I didn't see too much of it when I came another time, but I really fell in love with it. All the players are great; they treat me like a little brother. It's cool."

UW quarterback Ronnie Fouch was Barnett's host. "He said it's a little bit of a change at first, but you get used to it," Barnett said of Fouch's thoughts on going from one coaching staff to a new situation. "After that it's really fun. All the players stick close together and it's just a fun place to be."

Barnett noted that the basketball game he saw on Saturday was a definite highlight. "The fans are great," he said. "They were standing the entire game. Those fans being in the football stadium, I could get an idea of how fun it's going to be."

From the sounds of it, Barnett was a constant presence on his trip, talking to the other recruits about pledging UW. "Actually, I was doing that ever since I first committed," he said of his recruiting sales pitch. "I probably got five players on this trip to commit on their visits." He wanted us to get individual confirmation, but Dominque Gaisie and Semesi Tokolahi have both confirmed to that they confirmed their commitments on their recruiting visits this past weekend.
