Trip Report: Josh Andrews

It's no secret that Washington is trying to pull in one or two offensive linemen in the 2009 class and one they convinced to visit this weekend was Colony (Ontario, Ca.) OL Joshua Andrews who has been committed to Oregon State for a while. So did Washington do enough to get him to re-think his commitment to the Beavers? Read on to find out...

"It was a really good trip, I had a lot of fun," Andrews told on Sunday before boarding his plane home. "It was a real 'eye-opener' for me because it was great getting to know the players and coaches and get the see the program up front.

"Husky Stadium is impressive and it was a great feeling in there just knowing I could come out of that tunnel someday if I were to go there."

Andrews' host on his trip was WR D'Andre Goodwin and the two had a chance to get to know one another and the redshirt junior let him know what to expect.

"He was real cool, someone who's been around the block," Andrews said. "He told me a new era is coming in and they are really energetic and want to get Washington back to where they should be.

"He said the new workouts are tough, but they are making them into better players and they can already feel the difference."

Andrews also had a chance to sit down with the man who would be his position coach -- Coach Jim Michalczik -- and they got themselves on the same page.

"He's a real good coach, he has a great reputation," Andrews said. "He has already turned so many guys into pro players and that's what I'd like so that is something I am considering.

"He sat down with me and said he realizes it's a big decision for me, but he wanted me to know U-Dub wants me in their program and I could help them a lot."

Andrews said he still considers himself a soft verbal to Oregon State and that Washington will have an in-home visit on Tuesday and then he will make his final decision shortly after that.
