Rankin High on Dawgs

Dawgman.com reached Louis Rankin this evening, the 6-0, 190-pound running back prospect from Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln, and Louis had nothing but good things to say about his visit to Washington this weekend. In fact, he admitted that he thought about committing a couple of different times, but resisted the urge to make a full-blown decision.

"A couple of times I wanted to, but I still want to look at it, take my time," Louis told Dawgman.com Saturday evening. "Coach Neuheisel said he really could use me."

Justin Robbins was Louis' host. "He just talked about how everybody is family up there and how the school is really good. He also showed me around campus." Rankin wants to major in criminal justice and said the programs he was shown on his visit fit his needs.

Louis also got to see one of the practices as the Huskies prepare for the Sun Bowl. "They just never took any breaks," he said. "I kind of just watched the whole thing." Rankin had his position meeting with Chuck Heater. "Coach just told me that in their system the running back has to do a little bit of everything - you have to block, catch and run with the football. A little of everything."

In the final analysis, Rankin gave his visit a 10. "I liked it all," he said. Right now he doesn't have any other visits set up and when asked which schools he would be visiting couldn't come up with any. It will be interesting to see what other schools step up to the plate for this talented athlete from the Central Valley.
