Johnson dispels rumors of commitment

When Valley Center (Escondido, Ca.) ATH James Johnson took his visit to Washington there were rumors that he had committed to the Huskies before he had even finished his visit. spoke to him the day he left and he said no commitment had been made and more than a week later he's still saying the reports of his commitment aren't true...

"They're wrong," Johnson said matter-of-factly Sunday evening regarding the reports of his commitment. "That's just false business man."

Apparently the rumor started when someone claimed that James' brother had texted them that he had committed, but James said not to take that news seriously.

"Brother's don't know anything," he said. "Sometimes they just get talking and they don't know what they're saying."

So with that being said, has Johnson made any sort of a decision?

"I know what I'm going to do, but I can't tell you what I'm going to do," Johnson said with a chuckle. "I've got to make it a surprise. I want the world to be like ‘oh damn, how'd he end up there'."

Johnson said his final four are Washington, Oregon, California and Colorado and he's spoken to coaches from all four of those schools very recently.

"They tell me to take my time and they want me to go there so they don't want me to rush things," Johnson said. "I'm taking it day by day, just enjoying the process. I'm just trying not to get stressed out because if you get stressed out that's something you don't to be because you can't have fun, but I'm making a plus and minus list -- social-wise, the best chance to play first and academics and so on and so on."

Johnson said he plans to announce on signing day, Wednesday February 4th, and we'll have more from him then, but as of right now he has not committed to anyone.
