David Dirkmaat trip report

David Dirkmaat is a 6-7, 260-pound lineman from Fresno (Calif.) City College, and Dirkmaat took an official visit to Seattle this weekend to see about the prospects of earning a scholarship and playing for the Washington Huskies. While things didn't pan out quite like he would have hoped for, David is still hopeful he can make his mark.

"Coach (Brent) Myers said that they are looking for aggressive big guys that like to hit," David told Dawgman.com. "He wants speed, technique and strength. I'm aggressive and fast, but I need to put on more weight. They told me that they are going to call me and talk to me some more about playing."

Todd Bachert was David's host. "He told me mostly about the coaching staff," Dirkmaat said. "He told me that the coaches are great guys and that the players really seem to like them."

Dirkmaat also mentioned going down the tunnel with the band playing as a highlight. "It was nice," he said. "You really got the feel for what a game day would be like."

While he's still looking, Washington is the place that has David's attention right now. "If they did offer, I would commit," he said.
