Riva gets good news from the Huskies

When last we spoke with O'Dea (Seattle) OL Ben Riva, he had yet to talk with the new Husky coaching staff. Well, on Wednesday, that all changed and he came away with his first official offer and he was able to sit down with the head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Dan Cozzetto and he was impressed with what they had to say...

"I just got back and it was great," Riva said of his meeting with the coaches. "I mean, coach Cozzetto and I talked for about an hour and he said he thinks I would make a great left tackle and that I could be a player early there.

"Honestly I was surprised because I had never had this happen before and I almost committed because the new staff is so impressive. I really liked what they had to say."

Riva said he will be in Pullman this weekend to meet with the Washington State coaching staff and he'll be at UCLA for their junior day on March 7th.

"Washington is having their junior days on two different days I guess, so I'm going to try and make the Thursday one if they have it," Riva said. "I'd like to get to know the coaches more and talk to them more, but honestly, this was a really good thing for me."

We'll check back in with Riva over the coming weeks and update things as they happen.
