Huskies extend offer to Hawaiian DT

Washington continues to dole out the offers for some of the top players in the west and one that was offered relatively recently is Punahou (Honolulu) DT Sani Fuimaono. The talented lineman's head coach, Kale Ane, spoke with recently and he gave us an update on how recruiting is coming along for one of his top players...

"Sani just got an offer from the Huskies last week," Ane told "He's getting a lot of attention from schools. Oregon, Colorado and Hawaii are the main ones right now, but they are all after him.

"Washington was the first school to offer him. I know coach (Johnny) Nansen likes Sani alot and because he and coach (Steve) Sarkisian have such a big presence over here, they were the first to offer him."

Notre Dame signee Manti Te'o took all the headlines for Punahou this past fall, and with good reason, but with players like Fuimaono the Buff n' Blue football shouldn't take much of a dip.

"Sani is a high-motor guy who can make plays sideline-to-sideline because he's so quick and so athletic," Ane said. "He's also naturally strong and he plays with leverage really well. He was the state champion in wrestling this year, so he's got a lot of skills in that area.

"He's just the ultimate and complete team player. He's a real pleasure to coach and someone who will be really successful at the next level."

Fuimaono currently tips the scales at 265 pound on his 6-2 frame and Ane said he expects him to play at about 275 or 280 this coming fall.

The talented defensive lineman will be at the PIAA Combine in early June so we will have more from him then.
