Bonnell 'excited' by Husky offer

The Washington staff continued its push to bring in a solid crop of offensive linemen earlier this month when the extended and offer to Thunderridge (Highlands Ranch, Co.) OL Dillon Bonnell. The gifted lineman has seen his stock rise in recent weeks as more and more schools have extended offers his way, but he said the Huskies have definitely piqued his interest...

"It was exciting when I got the offer from (Washington)," Bonnell told recently. "They've been in contact since the new staff got hired and they are a school I was really interested in just because I know about their history as a program and that they have some talented players even though they didn't have a great season last year."

Bonnell's stock has skyrocketed over the past two months and recently he was offered by California, bringing his offer total to nine.

"Cal was the latest offer," Bonnell said. "Wyoming, Oregon State, Kentucky, Arizona State, Duke and Northwestern have all offered me and of course Washington too."

Bonnell plays left tackle for Thunderridge and said he's open to playing anywhere along the line.

"As long as I'm playing football, I'll play anywhere," Bonnell said matter-of-factly. "I just love playing the game. I love the hitting and paving the way for my teammates.

"We play mainly out of the I-formation, but I'm a good pass-blocker too. I feel like I can do either one well and that I'm a complete player.

"I know I have to work on my technique and stuff and you always want to improve, but I feel like I can do anything a school asks me to do and I will give it my all no matter what."

Bonnell had hoped to make Washington's spring game next weekend, but he said some family plans got in the way.

"That was frustrating, because I wanted to go up there to check it all out," Bonnell said. "I'm definitely heading up there for camp with them and I really want to meet the coaches and talk about things and find out more about the program.

"I don't want to name any favorites right now, because I'm wide open, but it's safe to say that Washington is right up there at the top of the list for me."

Bonnell has a 4.0 GPA and he said he'd like to make his decision as early as possible, but he wants to take a few visits before he commits anywhere.

We'll have more from Bonnell in the near future as the recruiting process really starts to heat up.
