Huskies climb to the top of Shaw's list

Big corners are en vogue and one of the top big corners out there right now is Palmdale (Ca.) CB Joshua Shaw. The talented defensive back took a visit to Seattle this past weekend to check out Washington's spring game and he said he was surprised how much he enjoyed himself and said the Huskies have climbed to the top of his list of favorites now that he's seen them up close...

"It was a great visit," Shaw told on Sunday after returning from his trip north. "I was really liking them before I came up there and then when I got there I just couldn't believe how great the visit went.

"It was beautiful up there and the coaches and the players were great. My parents and I got to meet with coach (Steve) Sarkisian afterward and he said he really liked me a lot."

While Washington is one of five schools to put an offer on the table for Shaw, he said they are one of the top two schools on his list right now.

"I'm open to everyone right now, but if I had to name a leader it would be a tie between Washington and Oregon," Shaw said. "I really want to check out Oregon before I make any sort of a decision and I was thinking about going up there next weekend for their junior day, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen right now.

"My other offers are from Iowa State, Washington State and San Diego State and schools like Kansas State and UCLA are looking at me, but they haven't offered yet."

As a junior in 2008, Shaw was a multi-purpose threat for Palmdale posting 443 yards receiving and 118 yards rushing on offense while notching 40 tackles, six breakups and four interceptions from his corner position and earned First Team All-CIF Southern Section, All-Golden League and First Team All-Los Angeles County honors for his efforts.

Shaw said he doesn't expect to make his decision anytime soon, but admitted that "I could decide tomorrow or I could wait until signing day. When it feels right I will commit and it will be done."

We'll continue to keep track of Shaw's progress and update things as they change in the coming weeks and months.
