Slavin likes what he hears from Dawgs

Washington has been on the prowl for a big wideout and one that has apparently gotten their attention is Roosevelt (Corona, Ca.) WR Tyler Slavin, a 6-3, 190-pound athlete who was one of the most explosive wideouts in the Golden State in 2008. He recently got offered by the Huskies and he said while they aren't at the top of his list right now, they are a school that has piqued his interest...

"They offered me a couple of weeks ago," Slavin said about the offer he received from Washington. "Coach (Demetrice) Martin is the one recruiting me and he and I have talked a few times about things and what they are trying to build up there.

"I don't have them at the top of my list right now, but I'm learning more about them and what they are all about and they are definitely a school I'm very interested in."

At the top of Slavin's list are three schools who have yet to offer, but those could be on the way soon.

"Cal, Oregon and UCLA are all schools I really like a lot," Slavin said. "If I had to name a leader, they would be the top three, but Washington is moving up and I'm still really open right now.

"Oregon has been talking to me quite a bit and Cal seems pretty interested. It's hard to say how close they are, but it feels like offers could come soon from them."

Besides the offer from the Huskies, Slavin also has offers from Colorado State, UNLV, Nevada, Nebraska, Arizona and Arizona State.

"I'm not going to make a decision real soon," Slavin said. "I'm just going to take my time and make sure when I make the commitment that it's firm so I don't need to take other visits.

"When I make my decision I want to be done."

Slavin is an angular receiver, who used his size and 4.43 speed to post 22 receptions for 501 yards (22.8 yards per reception) and six touchdowns.

"I'm explosive and I use my size well," Slavin said. "I'm working on my strength a lot and I'm trying to become faster this summer. I'll always work hard to become the best player I can be and I know I still have a lot to learn about things."

Slavin said he plans to take in the UCLA one day camp as well as the Cal camp, but was unsure of any other visits he may take this summer.

We'll continue to keep track of Slavin's progress through the recruiting process and update things as they change.
