Huskies lead for talented L.A. wideout

One of the top players in Los Angeles that people are just starting to learn about is Santee WR Tevin Carter. The talented athlete had a huge junior season on both sides of the ball in 2008 and he's already pulled in seven offers and more could be on the way. Even with all those early offers, Carter told that Washington holds the top spot on his list right now...

Carter is a multi-talented athlete who posted 28 receptions for 833 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver, 221 yards and three more touchdowns on 19 carries and four kickoff returns for touchdowns while racking up 93 tackles and four picks from his safety position.

The 6-3, 186 pounder is also a track athlete, running the 100 in 10.7 and the 200 in 21.6.

"Since I first got him in the 10th grade, I've never seen a better athlete," Santee head coach Joe Kearney told "No matter where you put him on the football field, he'll be successful.

"You could line him up at quarterback, running back, safety, linebacker, defensive end, you name it and he'll go out there and give you 100% and he shows you every day how hard he works and how much he loves to play the game."

With all that talent, schools up and down the west coast have been running to get into the race, but the first Pac 10 school to offer holds the top spot on his list.

"San Diego State was my first offer, but Washington was the first Pac 10 school to offer me," Carter said. "After them, Washington State, Oregon, Cal, Arizona State and Arizona all offered, but when Washington offered that really got me thinking about them.

"Right now Washington is at the top and they are a school I'm really leaning towards right now. I'm not ready to commit right now, but with coach (Demetrice) Martin recruiting me, they have really been recruiting me the hardest and they are a school I could really see myself playing at, definitely.

"I'm going to decide in the next month or two on where I want to go and Washington is my leader right now."

In addition to being a standout on the football field, Carter is also a stalwart in the classroom posting a 3.2 GPA.

We'll continue to track Carter's progress in the coming weeks and update recruiting news as it happens.
