Onibokun looking to visit this weekend

Mark Onibokun is a 6-1, 195-pound athlete from Butte (Calif.) College, and Onibokun's journey is an interesting one to tell. He's been to three junior colleges and took a year off to save money to get back to school. But now college coaches are banging down his door to offer him a scholarship to finish his education with them.

"I was at Pierce College first, then went to Foothill College in 2000," Onibokun told Dawgman.com. "But it was in the Bay Area, close to Silicon Valley and I was having to pay my tuition on top of expensive rent. It got hard to live there."

Onibokun, who graduated from Lakes High School in 1999, then moved to Butte, where he's been the last two years. "I have two years to play two," he said. He's already taken official visits to California and Boise State and is poised to take a visit to Washington this weekend.

"Coach Chuck Heater is recruiting me for Washington," Mark said. "He told me that he's going to call me with the details. The plan is to go up there this weekend."

Mark wants to come back to the Pacific Northwest. "It's a priority for me," he said. "It would be great to get a chance to play in front of friends and family. Plus, Washington is a great school and their coaches seem really good."

The Golden Bears, Broncos and Huskies are all right there for Onibokun's services. He has offers from Cal, Arkansas State and Boise State. BSU wants Mark as a receiver, while Cal and Washington like him as a defensive back. At 6-1 and 195 pounds, Onibokun claims a 4.4 40, 38-inch vertical leap, 260-pound bench, 380-pound squat and 245-pound power clean.
