Huskies make big impression on James

The state of California is loaded with running back talent this year and one of the most sought-after backs in the Golden State is Corona's Jordon James. The speedy back has offers from across the country, but one school that has consistently been at the top of his long list of suitors is Washington and he said recently the Dawgs will get one of his five official visits this fall...

"Coach (Demetrice) Martin and I talk all the time," James said about the Washington DB coach who recruits his area. "He wants me to come up and visit this summer and I might be able to do that, but even if I don't I definitely want to get up there for one of my official visits to check them out.

"Talking to coach 'Me' is like talking to a brother or even a friend. He's so energetic and he keeps telling me I could be a player that can be a difference-maker for them.

"I know that Washington didn't take a back last year, so that means I would definitely have the chance to come in and play right away which is great."

Last season, James only played in five games before suffering two broken bones in his forearm that ended his season. Even though he missed more than half of the games, he still managed to post 1,135 yards and 12 touchdowns and teams from across the country want to incorporate his 4.4 speed into their system.

"I have offers from all over the place," James said. "I have 18 offers, but I'd say the ones I'm focusing on the most right now are Washington, California, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and maybe a couple of other ones, but those are the main schools I'm looking at right now."

James ran track this spring and made it to the CIF Prelims posting a 10.6 100 meters, but he said he wasn't able to compete with the guys running ahead of him.

"Those guys could fly," James said with a chuckle. "I'm fast, but those guys could fly, it was pretty impressive actually."

James said he has plans to visit Stanford, Florida and Arizona this summer and that he will not be making a decision before he takes all five of his official visits.

We'll have more from the talented running back down the road, but it appears to Huskies are in the thick of things as far as James' recruitment is concerned.
