Lagafuaina high on the Dawgs

Last weekend Aiea (Hi.) DT Lawrence Lagafuaina was was on campus to take in Washington's Lineman camp. He already had a Husky offer before he even showed up to take part in the one day camp and it appears that while he's high on the Huskies he wants to take his time before he makes his decision on where he wants to play college ball...

"Everything was really good," Lagafuaina told Dawgman.com. "It was cool getting to play against guys who are from the mainland. Out on the islands, guys are big, but not as tall and there were a lot of athletic guys I was going up against.

"I felt like I held my own, but it gave me a lot to work for too."

As a junior in 2008, Lagafuaina posted over 50 tackles, six sacks and 10 quarterback hurries while earning Second Team All-Star and Honorable Mention All-State honors.

"I'm explosive and I can stuff the run," Lagafuaina said. "I'm strong and coaches say I run well for a guy my size."

Washington isn't the only program that has offered Lagafuaina, but they currently hold the top spot on the talented interior defensive lineman's list of schools right now.

"UCLA, UNLV and Wyoming have offered me too," Lagafuaina said. "Washington leads right now because I've seen them and I have a good relationship with coach (Johnny) Nansen.

"I want to check out UCLA though and there are other schools recruiting me I'd like to visit before I make my decision."

Those schools include Arizona State, Colorado, California, Oregon and Oregon State as well.

We'll have more from Lagafuaina down the road as the summer moves along.
