Hudson set to visit UW this week

Washington continues to get California recruits to visit Seattle and this week will see several make their way north. Redlands East Valley DE Andrew Hudson will be one of those players on campus and he said he's looking forward to meeting the new staff and catching up with some old friends...

"I'm heading up this weekend to check things out," Hudson told recently. "I'll be up there with my coach. I am taking a summer school class and on Friday me and my coach will leave and drive up there.

"I was thinking about going to the 'Rising Stars' camp they are having up there, but I'm not sure if I will do that or not. We'll see."

Hudson has three former teammates -- RB Chris Polk, QB Ronnie Fouch and CB Marquis Persley -- already on Washington's roster and he said he's spoken to them about things.

"They tell me about the new focus and energy of the staff up there," Hudson said. "I got to know some of the coaches when they were down at USC, so I already know how intense they are and their expectations for their players, but it will be nice to get up there to sit down with them one-on-one and really see how I would fit into the program.

"Those guys (Persley, Fouch and Polk) already being up there is nice because they can tell me what their thoughts are about the staff and the program, but honestly, them being there won't be a deciding factor where I end up."

In addition to Hudson's offer from the Huskies, he also has offers from Oregon State, Arizona State, Fresno State and San Diego State and he's getting interest from UCLA among others.

"I'll visit Oregon State too while I'm up there," Hudson said. "They are a school that interests me a lot."

As a junior in 2008, Hudson posted 70 tackles, five sacks and one fumble recovery from his defensive end position.

We'll have more from Hudson after his visit to Washington.
