Tanigawa is very high on the Dawgs

Washington has made a huge impression on Loyola (Los Angeles) OL Colin Tanigawa and last weekend the talented line prospect who has seen his recruiting hit full steam was on Montlake to meet with the Husky coaching staff. Did he think about making a commitment while he was on campus? Read on to find out...

Tanigawa and his mother both made the flight to Seattle late last week and spent the weekend meeting with the Husky coaches and seeing the sites of the Emerald City.

"The highlight of my trip was definitely meeting with the coaches and getting to know them better," Tanigawa told Dawgman.com. "We sat down with the coaches and talked about things. They talked about how they are going to build the program back to where it was, how I would fit into things and what they expect out of their players.

"My mom is going to be a big influence on where I go and she wanted to get up there and see the campus and see how the coaches treat me and she said she really liked Washington a lot."

Tanigawa and his mother also got to head downtown to take in a day walking around Seattle and he said the Farmers Market at Pike Place was what really stuck out to him.

"That was a lot of fun," Tanigawa said. "The whole city is beautiful, but going down there and seeing all the stuff going on (at the market) it was really a lot of fun."

Even though he has offers from several other schools, Washington still holds the top spot for Tanigawa and he said he almost made a commitment to the coaches right then and there.

"I was real close to doing it and actually I wanted to commit," Tanigawa said. "I thought about it though and I wanted to check out a few more schools before I really commit so I'm going to wait and take some visits before I commit, but that trip definitely went a long way in determining where I end up."

Arizona State and Nebraska will likely get visits, with the Sun Devils already offering.

"Nebraska has been talking to me a lot, but they haven't offered yet," Tanigawa said. "I've been talking to both staffs about coming to their schools and meeting with people, but I haven't firmed up any plans yet.

"Iowa State and Washington State might also be schools that I visit, but I haven't really talked to my parents about if I can do those or not."

Tanigawa plans to make a commitment before his season starts and could make his choice known by the end of July.
