Will Roy play or sit?

Brandon Roy was in uniform for Thursday night's game versus California. He didn't see any action, but was happy just to finally don the purple and gold after months of waiting to qualify. Here are quotes from Husky Coach Lorenzo Romar and Roy himself about the great news.

Lorenzo Romar:

"This is a kid that has been extremely patient, and he's grown up in the last year through this process.

"He's been dying to get out here and play. He's always wanted to be a Husky. He bleeds Husky colors. He kept his patience and to see him out here in uniform was a real boost for our program because we know for sure that Brandon Roy is going to be a part of our future.

About redshirting: "We are not sure. He hasn't practiced yet. We are not sure what kind of condition he is in or how quickly he can pick things up.

"We know he's good, but he's got to practice and learn what we are doing. It's difficult to just come in right now and get thrown into a Pac-10 game against Stanford. He is talented enough to come in and do well, we just need to see where he's at.

Brandon Roy:

On finally being a Dawg: "I went to the shoot around today and that felt real good. I was real anxious today being that close to the floor. I was excited to be on the floor with them.

On when he wants to make his debut: "I'm aiming for Oregon. That's the game I'm looking forward to. I just hope to get on the court against Stanford, but I'm aiming for the Oregon games.

On what he brings to the team: "I think the main thing is scoring consistently throughout the whole game. I think I can also rebound and defend some of those 6-5 guys that the shorter guards would otherwise have to.

On when he heard the news: "I found out today at 12:45."

On his conditioning: "I have been (working out) for a while and then the last two weeks I started school and I haven't been able to work out like I've wanted to."
