Burnett will visit UW on September 5th

Culver City (Ca.) LB Victor Burnett is currently in Florida taking part in the ESPN Rise 2009 Champion Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 competition, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been thinking about some official visits. Dawgman.com got the scoop on when he will be in Seattle to visit the Huskies as well as what other schools he's looking to take visits to...

"Things have been going great," Burnett told Dawgman.com. "There are some really talented guys here. They have the top 64 guys in the country from four different regions and it's all about just going out and competing.

"Demetrius Wright is here, Joshua Shaw, the quarterback who committed to Arizona State (Peter Thomas) is here and then there's Jordon James, Deitrich Riley, Shaquille Richardson and Anthony Jefferson and a few other guys are all here and we're having a lot of fun."

While he's been down in the Sunshine State with some of the top talent in the country, Burnett has been discussing some things with some of the other prospects looking at Washington.

"We all kind of talk about things and the visits and what we are looking for," Burnett said. "Washington is on the top of most of the California guys' minds right now. Their staff is real aggressive and real intense. They are always so upbeat and they talk about the tradition of Washington and how they used to be a national power and how they want to bring them back. That has made a big impression on all these guys."

The Huskies have definitely made an impression on Burnett, evidenced by the recent visit he scheduled to visit Montlake.

"I'm heading up there on September 5th for their game against LSU," Burnett said. "Washington has always been high on my mind and a school I wanted to check out and make sure I did enough research on them.

"I love coach (Demetrice) Martin. He and I talk all the time and he tells me all the time how much Washington wants me and just about the program and how they always won championships and bowls and stuff. He talks a lot about their tradition and how they are building it back to that level again."

Besides the Huskies, Burnett said he is sure of two more visits, although they haven't been scheduled yet.

"I know I'm visiting Tennessee and Oklahoma for sure," Burnett said. "Both of them play elite teams every year and they have a tradition of producing great teams and NFL guys.

"Other than that, the last two visits are between a bunch of schools and I haven't really narrowed that down yet."

We'll have more from Burnett down the road, but for those who want to see him and the other top California players in action the 2009 Champion Gridiron Kings will be on ESPNU July 28th at 4 p.m. PST.
