Douglas makes his decision

The Washington coaches looked far and wide for a kicker that could fill Derek McLaughlin's shoes, and they found one in Bellevue, Nebraska. Sean Douglas, a 6-1, 195-pound punter, verbally committed to Husky Head Coach Rick Neuheisel last night, making Sean the second high school kicker UW has taken this year. The first was Michael Braunstein from Gilbert, Arizona

Well, Coach Neuheisel offered me and I talked it over with my parents," Douglas told Tuesday afternoon. "I decided it was the best fit. It felt right on my visit. He called last night and I verbally committed to him."

His visit a couple of weeks back really made a positive impression. "The city is really nice and the coaches are players' coaches. The players are cool too. The stadium there and the whole setup and everything is great."

So how is it going to work out when Derek McLaughlin comes back from his two-year mission? "We haven't really talked about that," Sean said. "As far as I know I'm going to be the kicker there for four years."
