Rankin no longer considered committed

TheInsiders.com spoke with Mike Byerly, head coach at Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln, and he gave us the latest on his star running back, Louis Rankin. Rankin had been leaning hard to Washington for quite some time and was even set to verbally commit to the Huskies, but now it looks like a three-horse race.

"I asked Louis today what he wants me to say to people and he told me that he's thinking hard about Washington, Fresno State and Colorado," Byerly said. Colorado? "They came into the picture a couple of weeks ago when they saw film. They went 'Who is this guy?'. And plus, they lost a player to the draft (Chris Brown), so that's why they are interested."

Last week Byerly felt Rankin was right on the verge of a decision, but now he feels it may take a little longer. "Louis has been really busy lately," Coach said. "We're playing for the league championship in basketball tonight, so that's what he's focused on. He hasn't had the time he needs to sit down with his family and talk about it, so I think he's looking to this weekend to do that. It might go to the end. He's got a lot on his mind."
