Husky Commits: Week 2 stats

Washington's 17 commitments are off to a great start in their senior seasons. Here's a look at how each one has fared in the first two weeks of the season.

1) Lakes (Lakewood, Wa.) DT Sione Potoae Last weekend, Potoae helped lead the Lancers to a 2-0 record with a 42-14 win over Peninsula. Potoae had 3.5 tackles while helping to hold the Seahawks to just 74 yards rushing and 254 total offensive yards.

2) Lakes LB Darius Waters Potoae's teammate, Waters had three tackles on the evening and has 10 tackles on the season.

3) Lakes WR/S Jamaal Kearse Another Lancer who has committed to the Huskies, Kearse caught one pass for 10 yards (the team rushed for over 300 yards, doing most of their damage with the ground game) while adding three tackles from his safety position.

4) Auburn (Wa.) S/FB Chris Young Last week, in a thrilling win over Kentwood, Young posted 94 yards and two touchdowns, one being the go-ahead score with less than two minutes remaining. He also notched six tackles, but missed on several others and was beaten for a long pass that eventually led to a touchdown one play later. On the season, Young has 204 yards rushing and five touchdowns as a fullback while posting 14 tackles and two sacks on defense.

5) O'Dea (Seattle, Wa.) OT Ben Riva Struggled at times while trying to help the Irish get some semblance of an offense going against Bothell at Pop Keeney Stadium. O'Dea managed only 120 yards of offense while being shut out by Bothell 25-0.

6) O'Dea FB Zach Fogerson Was lost to a shoulder injury early in the first quarter and managed one carry for a loss of one yard before he left for the evening. It is still unknown how long he will be out.

7) Bothell (Wa.) OL Colin Porter Helped lead the Cougars to 340 yards of offense en route to a 25-0 win over O'Dea. In Bothell's two wins this season, they have managed to go over 300 yards and that is a direct result of having someone like Porter up front paving the way.

8) Bothell TE/DE Michael Hartvigson The talented athlete has only managed two catches for 24 yards in the Cougars' first two games, but he's been a key component to their running game as well as to stopping the opposing teams' attack with five tackles from his defensive end position.

9) Jesuit (Portland, Or.) WR/DB Keanon Lowe Helped lead Jesuit to a close win over Clackamas last Friday. Lowe managed to haul in three receptions for 25 yards and one touchdown and gained 78 yards on 15 rushing attempts and added another touchdown as well in the 28-21 victory. On the season, Lowe has caught eight passes for 66 yards and one touchdown and has 99 yards rushing on 25 carries and one touchdown.

10) Narbonne (Harbor City, Ca.) RB Melvin Davis Helped lead the Gauchos to a dominating 46-6 win over South East High School. Davis, along with his teammates, had a heavy heart coming into the game, remembering a fallen teammate who was murdered over the summer, but that didn't seem to affect his play as he posted 143 yards rushing and three touchdowns including a 70 yarder.

11) Colton (Ca.) K Alejandro Maldonado All four of his kickoffs were touchbacks and he hit an 80 yard "punt" after a safety. Maldonado was 1 for 2 on the night kicking field goals, hitting one from 35 yards out and having one blocked but, according to him that was because of a mix-up in the blocking assignment to the right side of the line.

12) Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Ca.) QB Nick Montana In two games, Montana has been solid, throwing for 306 yards, five touchdowns and only one interception while leading the Lions to a 2-0 record. Last Friday in a 51-0 thumping of Muir High School, Montana threw for 159 yards and four touchdowns while only attempting one pass in the second half. This weekend, Montana will lead the Lions against Skyline (Sammamish, Wa.) High School and Scout #1 QB Jake Heaps in one of the most highly anticipated games this season.

13) Oaks Christian OL Erik Kohler Lions RB Marshall Jones has rushed for over 350 yards and six touchdowns in two games, largely because of his offensive line and Kohler is widely considered the leader of that line. Kohler's athleticism was evident in Oaks' opening win over Bishop Alemany, pulling and trapping on running plays while not allowing a sack.

14) Oakland Tech (Ca.) WR DiAndre Campbell Helped lead the Bulldogs to a 72-6 win over Mission. Campbell had only two catches for 27 yards, but both went for touchdowns. This weekend, he and his teammates take on American High School at home.

15) Jordan (Long Beach, Ca.) LB Princeton Fuimaono Posted six tackles and one QB hurry against Beverley Hills.

16) Jordan QB/S John Timu His night was finished in the third quarter due to a cramp in his calf (which he could have returned from had the team needed him to), but he still managed to post 81 yards rushing on 10 attempts with two touchdowns and threw a 73-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage finishing with 110 yards on the night through the air, helping lead Jordan to a 34-7 win over Beverley Hills. Next up for Jordan is Pasadena this weekend.

17) Taft (Woodland Hills, Ca.) DE/LB Brent Williams This weekend, Williams got his senior season off to a big start posting four tackles and three sacks. This weekend he will take on Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) High School in a true test of his skills as a pass-rusher.

Other Notable Recruits…

1) St. Francis (La Canada, Ca.) RB/S Dietrich Riley In a 40-0 win over Arcadia, Riley posted 138 yards rushing on 13 carries and had one touchdown. He also caught five passes for 110 yards and two more scores and on defense he totaled five tackles (four solo) and one pass break up.
