Trip Report - Kyle Middlebrooks

Fountain Valley, Calif. running back Kyle Middlebrooks was looking for something a little different than what he's used to in southern California, and he got just that when he took his first official visit - to Washington - this past weekend. Scout.com spoke with Middlebrooks about his visit, and his long-term plan for when he wants to announce his verbal commitment.

"I was just thinking about getting into a whole different place up there in Seattle," Middlebrooks told Scout.com from the SeaTac airport Sunday while waiting for his flight back to California. "The water and different climate and everything…I was trying to get a change from California. I went up here and it was pretty nice. I really liked it a lot. It was definitely different than California. It was crazy. I loved it…all the hype that everybody had, the coaches, the players. It was cool.

Vince Taylor and Demitrius Bronson were Middlebrooks' hosts. "They told me how it is, the living experiences they've had and how everyone gets along," Middlebrooks' said. "Everyone is really cool with each other."

Middlebrooks also had a chance to talk with Washington Head Coach Steve Sarkisian and Running Backs Coach Joel Thomas, and during the trip the Huskies gave Middlebrooks a verbal scholarship offer. "They talked about the offense and returning, special teams and what I'd be doing if I did come to Washington," he said. UW is recruiting Middlebrooks as a running back. "There are a couple of kids from California there, and Chris Polk and Bronson were cool and everything. And coach Thomas, he's a really cool guy."

Washington, Washington State, San Diego State, UNLV and Idaho have already offered the 5-foot-9, 176-pound Middlebrooks.

It wasn't hard to figure out Middlebrooks' highlight of his visit. It was the Huskies' 36-33 thrilling fourth-quarter comeback against Arizona. "The game and going through the locker room and all the things that went along with it was the main highlight of the trip," he said. "Everybody was going crazy out there."

As well as the trip went, Middlebrooks wasn't about to pull the trigger on a verbal commitment just yet. "I'm still looking around, I haven't made any commitment," he said. "I'm going to talk to my parents about it. This was just my first trip, so we'll have to go on and see who is going to be the next."

Middlebrooks added that he plans on making his decision known after he takes all his visits.
