Two more visits set for Thompson

Washington continues its search for more defensive tackle prospects and one they've had their eyes on for a while is Oakland Tech DT Fred Thompson who is the teammate of current Husky commit DiAndre Campbell. The talented lineman recently set up two official visits and said he plans to visit Washington in the near future, but first he had some holiday goodwill to take care of...

Thompson along with several of his friends and teammates took their entire Sunday to gather turkeys to hand out to some people in their community.

"It's an outreach to our community that is sponsored by Marshawn Lynch who went to Oakland Tech," Thompson told Dawgman.com shortly after finishing his day of service. "It's a way for us to give back to those people out there who don't have anything for Thanksgiving. It's a small thing, but at the same time it's a big thing too and it helps us get some perspective on things."

While he's giving to those in need, he isn't as easily taken on the football field, posting over 60 tackle, eight sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss while helping lead the Bulldogs to a 9-2 record and the OAL championship game next Friday against Fremont.

"We've had a great season, but we know there's one game left," Thompson said. "We want to finish strong and finish our senior year with a championship and that's all we're focused on right now."

Thompson has already taken a visit to Arizona and has an offer from the Wildcats and recently was offered by Washington, Washington State and Oregon State.

"I'm visiting Washington State on December 5th and Oregon State on the 12th," Thompson said. "I'm going up to each school with my teammate Ryan Murphy. They've offered him too so we're going up together.

"As far as visiting Washington, I wanted to go up there with DiAndre, but I decided to take these two visits and then I will take my visit to Washington after the Oregon State visit either before Christmas break or after the first of the year.

"Washington is a school I really like. I want to get up and visit them real soon because I know it's starting to get down to crunch time. They have really started to build things back up and they had some really close losses so I think they are going to be good in the next few years."

We'll have more on Thompson in the near future and will update news as it happens.
