Huskies survive, advance to second round

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Washington's Quincy Pondexter floated a layup off the glass with 1.7 seconds left to lift the Huskies to an 80-78 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at the HP Pavilion of San Jose. The Huskies will play the winner of New Mexico/Montana Saturday evening.

Washington was led by the 19 points of Isaiah Thomas, and the 18 of Pondexter, 14 of which came in the second half.
